Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster Recreation Exceptionally Rare.

This outstanding recreation of the iconic Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster is believed to be the work of Tony Ostermeier, whose name is synonymous with some of the finest and most faithful 300SL recreations ever built. Unlike the more commonly seen Gullwing replicas, Roadster examples—particularly to this level of detail—are extremely rare, making this example a particularly special offering.

Acquired in 2020 from Germany as part of a pair—alongside a matching 300SL Gullwing recreation. This Roadster was subsequently registered in the UK on 1st July 2020.

Based on a German-supplied 1999 Mercedes-Benz SLK 230, the car has been meticulously re-bodied using original Mercedes-Benz 300SL fixtures and fittings, right down to the windows. The body proportions are exact to the original car, giving it an unmistakable presence. From the sweeping rear arches and chrome over-riders to the elongated headlamps and commanding bonnet, every curve and contour has been faithfully recreated to an exceptional standard.

Power is delivered by the SLK’s 2.3-litre supercharged Kompressor engine, paired with manual 5-speed gearbox offering modern-day reliability and ease of use while maintaining the visual charm of a 1950s classic. Authentic details such as recessed door handles, a classically styled dashboard with elegant chrome accents, and a period-style steering wheel further enhance the driving experience. The interior is neatly trimmed, and the black mohair convertible hood operates smoothly, folding away into a beautifully engineered rear compartment.

The car is offered with its UK V5C registration document, a valid MOT certificate until 26th September 2025, and a history file including the original SLK wallet, handbooks, and associated documents.
